Portmeiron village

Welcome to Llanybydder

Llanybydder is a market town on the river Teifi in Carmarthenshire. It is probably best known for the horse markets that take place on the last Thursday of each month and is said to be the largest of its kind in Europe. We also have the monthly local food and crafts market on the same day. It is also home to Jen Jones (and her Welsh Quilts and Blankets Cottage Shop) who has been awarded the Royal Warrant as supplier of historic Welsh quilts, blankets and antique and vintage textiles to His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales.

Our community is very active - you can join various clubs, take part in various sports activities, join art groups, and singing groups. If you have free time and want to become an integral part of the community, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer to help with anything from the annual carnival or clearing rambling walks. There is something to suit all ages and abilities.

The future of our community is our youth and there are activities throughout the year. Our Welsh-medium school is Ysgol Llanybydder which caters for pupils between 4-11 years of age. There is also the Family Centre for parent support and children’s activities.

We are very proud of our community, it is a great place to live, to work and to visit..
